The WDE (now WDEVN) is the oldest English based WEB bulletin board system offering non- Chinese speakers an insight into the Greater China Region. Started in 1987, as a direct dial-up text based electronic bulletin board system, WDE is where expatriates as well as the local Chinese community shared cultural exchanges.

In 1998, using consumer grade DV video cameras, WDE started creating locally shot, edited and produced video programs for on-line streaming on its networked media servers. WDE has so far interviewed local Chinese personalities as well as covered major news events.

In early 2001, WDE reformed itself as the" World Data Exchange Video Network - WDEVN for the purpose of sharing locally produced video clips with other on-line video makers.

WDEVN performs as an on-line media content service provider, offering on-line feature film showcases, distance learning Chinese courses, corporate presentations, live event broadcast streaming, streaming video resumes, and video messages.
